Abstract
A system for determining the spatial coordinates of objects (1) and their subsequent displacements employs the optical projectors (2,4) to illuminate the object from at least two different directions using a grid pattern screen. A CCD line camera (3) is used to record the image formed on the object surface using the first projector (2) and a second image is formed/recorded after turning the screen pattern through 90 deg. . A further pair of values is obtained using the second projector (4) and the four values are then mathematically processed to derive the spatial coordinates of the required points on the object surface. USE - Has many industrial/manufacturing uses in terms of quality assurance and is increasingly of value in medical diagnostics and plastic surgery. ADVANTAGE - Is capable of self-calibration and offers high concentration of available measuring points which can be rapidly recorded and evaluated.
