The description refers to a blank from which cylindrical lenses, in particular micro-cylindrical lenses arte producible, said blank, when viewed transverse to the axis, having an aspherical cross-sectional profile, from which cylindrical lenses, in particular micro-cylindrical lenses, can be simply and thus cost-effectively produced, and a high optical imaging quality is achievable. The blank made of a radiation-transparent material, forms at least part of a circular ring, whereby two opposing faces which serve as radiation incident faces or as radiation emergent faces, run in the axial direction of the circular ring or perpendicular to it, and whereby said part having a length corresponding to a multiple of the length of a single cylindrical lens. Furthermore, various processes for producing such a blank are specified.
