Abstract
In this document all results of a research work on laser welding of steel plates are published. The following informations are presented: - Advantages, problems and disadvantages of the laser technology. - Guidelines for an optimum design of laser welded constructions. - Guidelines for an optimum selection of laser welding parameters. - Listing of the fatigue strength values obtained for different basic laser weldments. - Fatigue behaviour of hollow sections under variable amplitude loading. - Listing of possible application fields for the laser technique. This will help the engineer to design laser welded light weight constructions and components with an optimum shape, with a minimum size and weight, and with an optimum behaviour under service conditions.
