Philippines - a good location for the production of wire harnesses

Abstract
Eine im Januar 1997 durchgeführte Studie über die Kabelkonfektionsbranche auf den Philippinen bietet einen Überblick über die derzeitigen Investitionsbedingungen und Chancen. Die Entwicklung des in der asiatischen Wachstumsregion angesiedelten Inselstaates verlief in den letzten Jahren vielversprechend nach Stabilisierung der politischen Lage. Der Ausblick läßt auf ein dynamisches Wachstum der Exportindustrie schließen. Eine unternehmerfreundliche Wirtschaftspolitik mit attraktiven Incentives und ein hohes Potential an englischsprachigen Arbeitskräften machen das durch westliche Einflüsse geprägte Land insbesondere für die arbeitsintensive Kabelkonfektion interessant. Attraktive Absatzmärkte liegen in der Region und als Mitglied von ASEAN und APEC verfügen die Philippinen über sehr gute Handelsbeziehungen zu den Hauptregionen der Automobilproduktion. Die Vorstellung interessanter Industriestandorte sowie möglicher Kooperationspartner auf den Philippinen vervollständigen den Vortrag. Ba sed on a study carried out in January 1997 on the Philippine wire harness industry, the following overview will focus on present investment conditions and chances. A stable political situation and a most promising economic development over the past years have transformed the country which is situated in the middle of the Asian growth area into an interesting investment area. Especially export sectors are expected to keep on growing strongly. Simplified investment procedures and attractive incentives offered by the government and a high potential of English-speaking manpower are among the country's advantages. As a member of ASEAN and APEC the Philippine market extends over the main regions of automobile production. A list of interesting industrial sites and potential co-operation partners in the Philippines conclude the presentation.
