Abstract
The market demands for inexpensive products with sufficient functionality and high quality. Shortened pay-off-periods require new strategies for fast product- and process-development. Simultaneous Engineering serves to accelerate the development process when implemented as a production organization strategy. To reach this target the areas of sheet metal parts design dimensioning method planning and tool construction have to be combined. The connection of these areas is achieved by using EDP technical support with modern CAx-techniques, knowledge-based and production specific sets of standardized rules as well as simulation and calculation processing. This integrative basis of product and process development allows to design correctly dimensioned parts in a shortened period as well to generate a safe. and inexpensive process cycle.
