Production planning and control systems do not support the objectives of short lead times and low holding costs efficiently. Applied in flow-shop production, the disadvantages multiply. Therefore for flow-shop production, a specific PPC system is proposed that respects these objectives. The high efficiency of the system results from a system design that uses very precise system and graph models of the real production process which is to be planned and controlled. The combination of these models leads to the complete solution of the multistage problem. The given approach covers the scope of medium range in a hierarchical production planning system.
