For this purpose a high-flux-generator using the principle of homogeneous nucleation in a turbulent free jet was developed. In a complementary study we did experiments at relatively high nucleation rates in a turbulent jet and, for comparison, at low nucleation rates in a thermal diffusion chamber. The aim of the study was to compare the experimental results with the classical nucleation theory. Particularly, for the turbulent free jet this turns out to be complicated since an aerosol dynamic model taking into account the spatial inhomogeneities of the aerosol properties and turbulent mixing is required.enaerosolDEHSdiffusion cloud chamberhomogenous nucleationturbulent free jet615610620660Homogeneous nucleation of DEHS as obtained from diffusion chamber and turbulent jet experimentsjournal article
