Co-electrolysis in high-temperature electrolyzers is a promising option for single-step generation of syngas from H2O and CO2. In this chapter an overview on co-electrolysis is given, covering the thermodynamic and technological basics as well as the applied approach for scale-up. Experimental results from a small-scale demonstration unit allow for an assessment of the importance of heat integration within the system. The advantage of increased PtL energetic efficiency by thermal coupling of co-electrolysis and synthesis is discussed, highlighting the future potential of co-electrolysis in the context of synthetic fuel production.enCo-electrolysisEfficiencyHigh-temperature electrolysisSolid oxide electrolysisSyngas generation600 Technik, Medizin, angewandte WissenschaftenCo-electrolysisbook article
