Potential applications are gun and liquid rocket propellants. As a candidate for a high energy propellant, this paper presents the synthesis of the energetic ionic liquid 4-Amino-1-methyl-1,2,4-triazolium nitrate (AMTN) via alkylation of 4-Amino-1,2,4-triazole with iodomethane and subsequently anion metathesis with silver nitrate. AMTN has a glass transition point of -55 °C and shows low sensitivity against impact (15 Nm) and friction (160 N).enIonic liquidsHigh energy propellantsSynthesisEnergetic materialsEILsIonic Liquids as high energy propellantsposter
