It performs service integration of telephone, data, videophone as well as TV- and stereo-broadcast distribution, employs central as well as decentralized switching, and utilizes-besides analog transmission-digital transmission via optical fibres up to the rate of 560 Mbit/s. At present the system is undergoing a long duration testing in order to gain experience of the long time behaviour of the optical components and to measure the bit-error-rates and the phase jitter.encommunication networksoptical communication equipmentoptical fibrestelephonedatavideophonetv distributioncentral switchinghhi broadband communications networkheinrich-hertz-institut berlinbroadband communications systemstereo-broadcast distributiondecentralized switchinganalog transmissiondigital transmissionoptical componentsbit-error-ratesphase jitter621Experimental results of the HHI broadband communications networkconference paper
