Incorporating Germany's first combined power-to-heat/power-to-cold system, as well as advanced microgrid technology, the energy plant was subject to electricity market-oriented control in several research projects. This chapter reviews the main findings and results of these studies. We detail the development and implementation of a model predictive control framework that effectively interfaces with the day-ahead, intraday, and experimental congestion management markets. Additionally, we discuss the various forecasting algorithms applied, their integration, and potential weaknesses that can be addressed.enElectricity market-oriented control of the EUREF Energy Workshopbook article
