It can be executed with a contoured die or with a flat anvil. Contrary to state-of-the-art clinching technology, the joint is not formed directly with the punch, but with a rivet that stays in the joint. Thus the connection is stabilized and it has much higher strenght values. In this paper the new joining method is introduced in detail. Examples for manufactured joints are shown and strenght values for selected joints are given.deassemblyfinite element method (FEM)joining by formingclinchingrivet clinchingdieless rivet clinchingflat counter toolaluminumsteelhybrid jointjoining methoddiedielessanvilClinchenClinchnieteNietclinchenmatrizenlos NietclinchenFügenFügekraftreduzierungFügeverfahrenAluminiumStahlMischverbindungMatrizeAmbossmatrizenlosFinite-Elemente-Methode (FEM)620670Clinchnieten und Nietclinchenconference paper
