In this paper, we provide a novel approach to auto-discover and auto/self-configure routers for OSPF routing in an autonomic network. We present the enablers for realizing these self-* functionalities. This includes a framework for describing the network policies, objectives and router conguration, models to be followed by a node/device implementation when self-describing the capabilities of a node and tokens for enforcing security and access control during the auto-discovery and auto-configuration processes of a node.
