In the following the case of a bore hole inspection lead to the development of a SAFT reconstruction algorithm in cylindrical coordinates which allows to perform the reconstruction on the CAD sketched component immediately. The combination of stacked 2D-SAFT-reconstructions with the 3D-CAD system allows both to locate defects with respect to the contour of the component, to slice the component and to present those orientations which are important for the extraction of as much information upon the defect configuration as possible.ensynthetic aperture focusing technique (SAFT)3D-CADdefect detection620658670Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique 3D-CAD-SAFTconference paper
