Mahler, G.G.Mahler2022-03-022022-03-021984https://publica.fraunhofer.de/handle/publica/171498For future high-definition TV (HDTV) systems, a projection technology is required that combines very high resolution and very high light output. Such displays are not presently available for consumer applications. The author describes a thorough investigation that has been made on ligh-valve projection systems, which appears to be a promising technology. The study focused on the single-gun version, which uses one control layer and one optical system for all three primary colors, allowing a compact design without registration problems. It is concluded that the single-gun light-valve technology in its present state does not meet the quality requirements of extended HDTV, but most of the necessary improvements appear feasible.enoptical systemstelevision systemshigh definition light-value projectionhigh-definition tvHDTVoptical systemsingle-gun light-valve technology621643High definition light-valve projectionjournal article
