Jochims, M.M.Jochims2022-03-072022-03-071993https://publica.fraunhofer.de/handle/publica/287130This report deals with the influence of the chosen set of free variables on the numerical solution of the onedimensional Euler equations. It will be shown that not all sets describe the propagation of shock waves successfully. It is necessary to use conservative variables in order to obtain correct results as predicted by the Rankine-Hugoniot theory. The results get worse with increasing number of non-conservative variables.deConservative variableEuler GleichungFlow mach numberKonservative VariableNatürliche VariablePrimitive variableshock mach numbershock wave reflectionStoßmachzahlStoßwellenreflexionStrömungsmachzahl620Einfluß der Wahl der freien Variablen bei der Verwendung der Methode der Finiten ElementeInfluence of the chosen set of free variables on the solution derived by the Finite Element Methodbook
