However, only a limited amount of detailed studies about attack surfaces as well as efficient security mechanisms have been proposed. Therefore, a general study of possible attacks regarding content manipulation on popular automotive bus systems is provided in this work. Additionally, a new authentication scheme for bus messages is proposed, which overcomes some of the limitations imposed by previously suggested technologies.
