By analytical means, they show that for increasing bandwidth the synchronization performance approaches the one achievable in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, which is also verified by simulations. The results are relevant for upcoming cellular standards, because significant benefits are demonstrated in particular for cell-edge users experiencing low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions.
