In future, new ancillary services for grid integrated power inverters are needed while increasing the renewable power generation in the grid. In this paper a novel inverter control algorithm will be introduced. Such decentralized inverters participate directly in forming the grid voltage and grid frequency. In the following they are named as grid-forming inverters. Unlike conventional current controlled inverters, they are voltage controlled, so that they act as voltage source. This means, that issues of virtual inertia, uninterruptable power supply and black start capability are all covered by this technique.endroop controlblack start capabilitygrid forming invertergrid impedance estimationDistributed grid-forming inverters in power gridsconference paper
