Advances in theory as well as in engineering allow the design of highly sophisticated computer-based tools to support image data analysts in managing the huge amount of data in order to achieve maximum exploitation results. The systematic composition of those tools together with their mutual relationship, forms an "image exploitaton assistant". This paper presents a selection of such tools designed to assist air- and spaceborne image exploitation that are being developed and examined with the experimental system IRISX (Interactive Reconnaissance Interpretation System). A couple of those components are actually being integrated into the image exploitation system of the German Armed Forces.deBildarchivBildauswertungBilddarstellungDatenbankimage analysisinteractionInteraktioninteraktive Luftbildauswertunginteraktive Satellitenbildauswertungmachine visionMeldungserstellungRechnergestützte Luftbildauswertungrechnergestützte SatellitenbildauswertungRechnersystem004Rechnergestützte Luft- und SatellitenbildauswertungComputer based airborne and satellite image interpretationbook article
