Discussion of key parameters and methods for comparison of energy needs of machine tools

Based on actual challenges of global warming and limited fossil fuels energy efficiency in industrial production is most relevant for developers and applicants of production systems. For orientation of machine tool builders and decision guidance for investments, objective evaluation criteria for energy consumption of machine tools could be helpful. In the presentation approaches for key parameters and comparison methods for energy productivity of cutting machine tools will be discussed. Furthermore results of experimental tests on different machine tools and supporting systems which were performed for validation of the discussed approaches will be presented.
