Titel

Development and functional test of an epiretinal prosthesis

Abstract
This work presents the architecture, the realization, and the packaging of a micro implantable visual prosthesis system. Our epi-retinal implant system stimulates the ganglion cells of the outermost layer of the retina via an implantable micro-electro stimulator, and it has been already successfully tested in animal experiments. The implant gives visual perception to blind patients suffering from photoreceptor diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa, age related macula degeneration, chorioderemie or Usher syndrome.
