Titel

Human machine interface of an integrated driver monitoring and emergency handling system

Abstract
An integrated rapid prototyping approach using product scenarios and computer demonstration / simulation of the human machine interface (HMI) is applied to conceptualise an in-car HMI of a driver monitoring and emergency handling system within the EU Transport Telematics project SAVE. Valuable hints for the optimisation of the HMI concept and principle problems of the HMI design of SAVE type systems are identified based on the results of expert and user tests. The approach proved to be useful in the conceptualisation of the HMI of in-car telematic systems. The restricted correspondence of computer simulation and reality requires additional testing in driving simulators and demonstrator cars.
