Life cycle analysis - principles and limitations

Alternative
Lebenswegbilanzen - Grundlagen und Grenzen
Abstract
Life Cycle Analysis has been developed as a valuable tool for the quantification of environmental impacts as related to the use of products in contrast to the popular method of qualitative arguments. On the Inventory level, highly detailed information is available, especially for packaging systems, by using methodology and computer program as developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Food Technology and Packaging. For the subsequent steps of Impact Analysis and Life Cycle Assessment, methods are still in the stage of development, which leads to the fact that the use of different methods may lead to different results.
