Abstract
The principle function of an apparatus for the evaluations of the dynamic magnetostriction as a measured quantity of the 3MA method is discussed. An ultrasonic wave is generated by an electromagnetic acoustic transducer due to a magnetostrictive interaction mechanism. This wave is received by an electromagnetic acoustic transducer due to an inductive interaction mechanism. Amplitude and phase of the ultrasonic pulse are evaluated depending on the magnetic field strength of the transmitter, keeping constant the magnetic field of the receiver. Measurement results like the influence of stress or the influence of texture on amplitude and phase curves of the dynamic magnetostriction are demonstrated.
