Representation Scheme for Feature-based Parametric Design

Abstract
Feature-based parametric design (FbPD) is an approach to CAD that integrates the advantages of design-by-features and parametric design. The realization of FbPD systems reqires an appropriate representation scheme. Here, a parametric feature representation (PFRep) is introduced that incorporates the application data of a feature-based model with the generic data of a parametric model. The PFRep represents explicitly features, feature relationships, form entities, as well as geometric and non-geometric parameters and constraints.
