Der vorliegende Band dokumentiert die Aktivitäten der produktionstechnischen Institute aus Aachen (WZL/IPT), Berlin (IWF/IPK) und Stuttgart (ISW) im Zusammenhang mit dem Thema "Konvergenz von OT und IT" und gibt einen Ausblick auf mögliche Anwendungsfelder und Entwicklungsrichtungen dieses Themenbereichs. Eine der wichtigsten Entwicklungsgrundlagen im Bereich von Industrie 4.0 ist die Konvergenz von Lösungen aus dem Bereich der Operational Technology (OT) und Informationstechnologie (IT). Eine konsequente Konvergenz von Lösungen aus beiden Bereichen bietet die Basis für neuartige Optimierungspotentiale in der Produktion zur Steigerung der Effizienz und Wirtschaftlichkeit. Erst wenn es keine strikte Trennung zwischen den beiden Technologiebereichen mehr gibt ist eine vollständige wirtschaftliche und effiziente Digitalisierung möglich. Die Beiträge in diesem Band geben Einblicke in entsprechende Forschungs- und Umsetzungsaktivitäten dazu.

Enterprise Interoperability VIII: Smart Services and Business Impact of Enterprise Interoperability

This book gathers the proceedings of the I-ESA'18 Conference, which was organised by the Fraunhofer IPK, on behalf of the European Virtual Laboratory for Enterprise Interoperability (INTEROP-VLab) and the DFI, and was held in Berlin, Germany in March 2018. It presents contributions ranging from academic research and case studies, to industrial and administrative experiences with interoperability that show how, in a globalised market scenario - where the ability to cooperate with other organisations efficiently is essential in order to remain economically, socially and environmentally cost-effective - the most innovative digitised and networked enterprises ensure that their systems and applications can interoperate across heterogeneous collaborative networks of independent organisations. Ethical implications of the global use of digitised biomedical and biometric data. Workshop Proceedings

In the light of a lack of convergence at the international level at this point in time, the ETHICAL project seeks a first international response to these issues in the development of a Code of Conduct. Indeed, the development and adherence to such a Code is possibly one of the few policy options we could employ and this is why I welcome the outline for such a Code developed in the framework of this project. I want to congratulate all partners with the completion of this project. The project did not want to employ abstract ethics, but instead, worked interdisciplinary, and brought people technical and ethical expertise together. Moreover, the project was exemplary by integrating international partners from the Ukraine, Chile and Malaysia into a consortium which also consisted of various research organisations and SME's from Europe. Enterprise Interoperability

Markets, stakeholders and information technologies will constantly evolve making it challenging for a single organization to keep up with the competition. Modern production enterprises are responding to this challenge with industries 4.0 and interoperable solutions in collaborative networks to become more reactive and innovative for their organization and their production systems. The International Conference on Enterprise Interoperability (I-ESA 2018) is presenting interoperable solutions for enterprises from a research and business impact point of view. The workshops address Smart Services and new technologies like the Next Generation Internet (Internet of Things, Cloud-based platforms, and Artificial Intelligence) applied in Future Manufacturing systems using Digital Transformation. The proceedings contain short papers from eleven workshops and from a Doctoral Symposium. One particular method used for each workshop has been to exchange knowledge about actual research and applications and to interactively discuss issues and new ideas between the presenters and the audience of experts from research and industry. Because the growth of internet of things (IOT) technology, stakeholders who come from different research areas (information modeling area, dynamic process modeling area, and so on) will very easily and simultaneously evaluate and control the manufacturing process from all over the world. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a comprehensive enterprise modeling methodology with the integration of information modeling and dynamic process modeling method. However, it is known that there is limited research on the realization of a modeling methodology that can simultaneously handle information modeling and dynamic process modeling. The method for object-oriented business process optimization (MO2GO) system performs modeling in terms of information and process. However, the process modeling part in this system is static. Meanwhile, the Petri net mathematical modeling language has strong dynamic simulation capability. Thus, our main contribution is to analyze the characteristics of Petri net, which would be helpful to the dynamic process modeling realization in the MO2GO system, and integrate Petri net engine into the MO2GO system to allow a static process model to become dynamic. In here, the system can not only display a simulated manufacturing process but also calculate actual information (time and cost) for a final manufactured product. Therefore, it is possible for the system to handle both information modeling and dynamic process modeling. Finally, the MO2GO system will be more competitive in the future industry.
