Unified information access in product creation with an integrated control desk

2017 , Wrasse, Kevin , Diener, Holger , Hayka, Haygazun , Stark, Rainer

Customers demand for individualized products leads to a large variety of different products in small series and single-unit production. A high flexibility pressure in product creation is one result of this trend. In order to counteract the pressure, the information steadily increasing by Industry 4.0 must be made available at the workplace. Additionally, a better exchange of information between product development, production planning and production is necessary. The improvement of individual systems, like CAD, PDM, ERP and MES, can only achieve this to a limited extent. Since they mostly use systems from different manufacturers, the necessary deeper integration of information is only feasible for SMEs to a limited extend. The presented control desk helps to ensure a more flexible product creation as well as information exchange. It captures information from different IT systems in the production process and presents them integrated, task-oriented and oriented to the user's mental model, e.g. information of the production combined with the 3D model of product parts, or information about product development on the 3D model of the production. The solution is a digital 3D model of the manufacturing environment, which is enriched by billboards for a quick information overview and web service windows to access detailed MES and PDM information. By this, the level of abstraction can be reduced and reacts to changed requirements in the short term, making informed decisions. The interaction with the control stands utilizes the touch skills of mobile and fixed systems such as smartphones, tablets and multitouch tables.

Potentials of information technology for life-cycle-orientied product and process development

1996 , Krause, F.-L. , Kind, C.

Due to the increasing responsibility of companies and increasing demand on the market for high quality and environmentally conscious products, consideration of life-cycle requirements in product and process development has become more important in recent years. The modification of product and process development to take account of the complex interrelationships within product life-cycles requires organisational as well as administrative changes and an application of specific methods and tools to support manager and staff. In this article, potential aspects of information technology leading to the attainment of this goal are presented. The main emphasis is placed on environmental aspects.

Development and design with knowledge-based software tools - an overview

1995 , Krause, F.-L. , Schlingheider, J.

Knowledge-based systems make possible an increased utility potential for software in the area of design and process planning, taking account of constantly increasing production complexity. This article offers an overview of application areas for knowledge-based systems in development and design. Activities are identified that can be supported consistent with the present state-of-the-art, in conclusion, a categorization of industrial applications and research activities in this area is undertaken.

Breitbandkommunikation in CAD-Prozessen zur Optimierung der Produktentwicklung

1995 , Krause, F.-L. , Jansen, H. , Kiesewetter, T.

1995 , Krause, F.-L. , Golm, F. , Rieger, E. , Woll, R.

New strategies and requirements for product development imply the equivalent treatment of modelling tasks for product and process. In the present article an approach is described which aims on the flexible adaptation of the product development with respect to product and process specific constraints. This is achieved by the combination of an approach for planning and optimisation of product development, a semantic feature approach which enables the individual integration of system components and a method for quality management accompanying the product development.

Wissensbasierte Organisation von Produktentwicklungsprozessen

1995 , Krause, F.-L. , Mattes, W.

Life Cycle Modelling for Innovative Products and Processes. Proceedings

The aim of the conference PROLAMAT95 on "Life Cycle Modelling for Innovative Products and Processes" was to present, discuss and summarize requirements and solutions for sustain- able product development and manufacturing processes. The employment of information technology to support the development of new strategies will be the main focus. This volume contains the papers presented at the conference which provide opportunities to identify the state-of-the-art and address future requirements. A variety of branches with their specific products and manufacturing processes were the basis for intensive discussions. The relationships between aims for sustainability, structures, outsourcing and globalization are important parameters for novel product development and manufacturing strategies. The link to standardization will be emphasised.

Product Development using IBC

1995 , Krause, F.-L. , Doblies, M.

Communication is high Priority for rapid product development. Integrated Broadband Communication (IBC) is therefore a potential to be investigated as thorough as possible Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) tools are thereby gaining importance Design and support of Product Development Processes is the main area of research at the Department of Industrial Information Technology, Institute for Machine Tools and Production Technology (IWF), Technical University of Berlin. Current research on CSCW tools is done in several projects. In the frame of the SMAC project the IWF developed a concept for a distributed Product Library based on World Wibe Web (WWW).
