Integrating machining sequences into CAD models. Product modelling offers consid- erable potentials of rationaliza- tion for the integration of design and work planning. While the standardization of STEP has not yet been concluded, benefits of product modelling can already be used today on the basis of advanced CAD systems, as can be seen in the following article.

    Modellieren von Verbindungselementen

In modern CAD systems it is necessary to simulate connections of components in several steps. Connecting elements, such as screws, rivets and the like, must be simulated as indivi- dual parts, while modifications have to be made on the geometry of the parts to be connected, such as the carrying out of bores. Only then such parts will be combined to form an assembly group. This article introduces a method that permits connections to be handled as an element within a feature-based modeling system.

In a first part design is situated as an activity which integrates four domains: the customer's domain, the fuctional one, the product and the process domains. Two phases are distinguished: the creative and the analytic one. Successively following aspects are dicussed: Geometric Modelling, Inferfacing Product Modelling, Features, Simulation and System Architecture.
