    Fatigue recognition in overhead assembly based on a soft robotic exosuit for worker assistance
    ( 2021)
    Kuschan, J.
    ;
    Krüger, J.
    Physical stress and overuse during assembly tasks is one of the main causes of musculoskeletal disorders of workers. Innovative body-worn robotic assist systems aim to reduce the physical stress in manual assembly and handling operations. A novel approach for automatic fatigue detection using machine learning techniques, combined with body-borne sensors, enables early detection and classification of fatigue. This article introduces the new method for an innovative soft robotic exosuit for physical worker assistance. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated in a case study for overhead car assembly.

    In human-robot collaborative assembly, robots are often required to dynamically change their pre-planned tasks to collaborate with human operators in a shared workspace. However, the robots used today are controlled by pre-generated rigid codes that cannot support effective human-robot collaboration. In response to this need, multi-modal yet symbiotic communication and control methods have been a focus in recent years. These methods include voice processing, gesture recognition, haptic interaction, and brainwave perception. Deep learning is used for classification, recognition and context awareness identification. Within this context, this keynote provides an overview of symbiotic human-robot collaborative assembly and highlights future research directions.

    Die dezentrale Energieerzeugung im Kontext der Dekarbonisierung bringt eine Änderung der kritischen Infrastruktur mit sich. Die Prozesssteuerung von lokalen Einheiten erfolgt nicht mehr nur über separate Leitungen, sondern vermehrt über das Internet. Dies birgt neue Anforderungen an die Sicherheit. Am Fraunhofer IPK entsteht ein neuartiges Verfahren, das klassische Methoden der Netzwerksicherheit mit automatischer Auswertung der Prozessdaten kombiniert. Hierbei wird domänenspezifisches Wissen genutzt, um vom Normalzustand abweichendes Verhalten frühzeitig zu erkennen. Mittels des maschinellen Lernens (ML) können dabei komplexe Zusammenhänge effizient analysiert werden.

    Intuitive Roboterprogrammierung auf mobilen Endgeräten
    ( 2013)

    ;
    Krüger, J.
    Eine intuitive Roboterprogrammierung ergibt sich durch den Einsatz der natürlichen Kommunikation durch Sprache und Gesten. So lassen sich Roboterprogramme durch Vormachen im dreidimensionalen Raum definieren, daneben wird auch die Simulation mittels Tablet-PC und intelligente Apps mobil. Eine neuere Studie identifiziert die Mensch-Roboter-Interaktion als Schlüsseltechnologie mit hohem Potenzial und fordert die Roboterprogrammierung für jedermann. Für Forschung und Entwicklung ist die Aufgabe, neue Programmiertechniken, die eine optimierte Kommunikation mit dem technischen System bereitstellen, zu entwickeln. Die Nutzung natürlicher Kommunikationskanäle ermöglicht bei anwendungsgerechter Gestaltung eine effiziente und ergonomische Art der Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion (MMI). Ziel der Nutzung von natürlichen Kommunikationskanälen ist neben der Erhöhung der Akzeptanz des technischen Systems auch eine allgemeine Verkürzung von Anlernzeiten und Bedienzyklen. Typisch für natürliche MMI ist Multimodalität, das heißt die Nutzung mehrerer Kommunikationskanäle gleichzeitig oder nacheinander. Multimodale Steuerungssysteme nutzen Finger-, Hand- oder Berührungsgesten sowie Sprache. Auch Visualisierungen kommen als eine weitere Form der Interaktion zwischen Mensch und Maschine zum Einsatz. Außer klassischen Displaytechniken lassen sich Methoden der Augmented Reality zur visuellen Darstellung von Informationen in einem Kamerabild nutzen. Ziel des Projekts 'Räumliche Industrieroboter-Programmierung' am Fachgebiet Industrielle Automatisierungstechnik der TU Berlin ist die Entwicklung von intuitiven Methoden der MMI zum Unterstützen der manuellen Online-Programmierung von Industrierobotern. Dabei entstand ein leistungsstarkes Programmiersystem, das verschiedene Programmierebenen sowie verschiedene Schritte der Programmerstellung adressiert. Handheld-Geräte bilden das zentrale Programmiergerät. Einzelheiten werden hierzu vorgestellt.

    Dual-arm robots provide efficient approach for automated execution of complex assembly operations. With bimanual-manipulation, a dual-arm robot can simultaneously control relative motion and interaction of assembly counterparts in a dexterous human-like manner. This requires, however, sophisticated programming and control algorithms for arms cooperation. This paper addresses the development of an advanced industrial dual-arm robot system with novel capabilities, such as easy and rapid commissioning, compliance control of bimanual interaction in all assembly process phases, as well as intuitive planning and programming. The robot can be leased and easily integrated in assembly environment sharing the same workspace with human workers.

    Robust control of force-coupled human-robot-interaction in assembly processes
    ( 2008)

    Flexibility and changeability of assembly processes require a close interlinkage between the worker and the automated assembly system. The interaction between human and robot improves complex assembly processes, particularly when a robot can be guided by a worker and the robot provides power assistance to the worker. The close physical contact and the direct coupling of forces of human and robot necessitate a stable and robust interaction control. This paper describes a framework developed for a robustly stable control design for interactive robots serving as intelligent assist systems for flexible and highly adaptable assembly.

    The growing number of product variants, smaller lot sizes, reduced time to market and shorter lifecycles of products have lead to increasing demands on automation equipment and concepts. As a solution, hybrid human integrated approaches are proposed. The idea is to combine human flexibility, intelligence and skills with the advantages of sophisticated technical systems. Intelligent assist systems (IAS) represent a novel class of assembly systems capable of working with human operators in two modes: workplace sharing and time sharing. This paper presents a novel collaborative robot system ("Cobot") capable of sharing the workspace with the human co-worker and collaborating with him through direct physical contact.
