Tests of all levels of complexity require a wide spectrum of NDE inspections. Furthermore, this provides the opportunity of developing and testing the required NDE and SHM methods and instrumentations for new designed components that are made from innovative materials. An overview of the application of NDE techniques (US, ET, Visual and others) for component and structure testing of different complexity will be given. Concepts for introducing SHM into structure tests will be highlighted. Structural health monitoring (SHM) system using acoustic emission (AE) technique and ultrasonic tomography has been applied to detection and identification of the damage.
