Since 1983, Fraunhofer IPA is working in projects on nanomaterials coating (nanopaints, sol-gel coatings) for partners from industry. During that time, new processes and techniques for a reliable processing of coating materials have been developed, planned and realized. The coating materials that come into question are selcted by Fraunhofer IPA by means of a catalogue of requirements on the open market, and are being optimised in collaborationwith the producer of the mateirals. Fraunhofer IPA develops the coplete process and carries out the process and installation planning. An example is the plant layout for functional coating of metallic parts in vehicle construction using a nanopaint material.
