The paper presents a procedure for a fast selection of the right PPC method in a turbulent environment. Starting with a definition of turbulence based on physics and a PPC framework, the paper focuses on the idea of rough-cut configuration. Identifying and combining relevant observed and manipulated variables of PPC in order to find out suitable PPC methods which are classified in analogy to control theory. This helps to describe the internal and external requirements for possible PPC methods. In order to find a situation-based PPC configuration a three-step procedure is recommended.
