Currently, advanced fluorescent concentrators are being developed, which utilize different fluorescent materials and optical components, such as spectrally selectively reflecting photonic structures. In this paper, we present our approach to simulate also such complex systems by application of a Monte Carlo based ray tracing model, and compare the results to measurements. The model reproduces different optical measurements on the fluorescent collectors well. The changes in light collection efficiency due to bottom reflectors and mirror foils on free edges are precisely simulated. For more complex geometries, however, the model still overestimates light collection efficiencies.
