Titel
Determination of stress, deformation and temperature in the marginal zone of machined workpieces by means of 3D-finite element analysis
Abstract
The mechanical an thermodynamical loads acting on the marginal zone of workpieces during machining have a decisive influence on the quality of the machined wordpiece and thos on its function. The stresses, deformations, and temperatures induced into the workpiece are influenced by the tool geometry and tool wear, by the friction on the face and the flank, and by choice of cutting conditions. The measurement of stresses, deformations, and temperatures is difficult, their influence on the surface integrity is unclear to a large degree due to the multiple stress on the surface because of the feed-dependent overlapping of cuts. Existing articles on this topic mainly deal with the mechanical an thermodynamical loads on the tools. This work concentrates on the functional surfaces of the workpiece. In the analyses a visco-plastical material model with a rate dependent approach was used. The result of the FE-Analysis, especially concerning the chip forming and chip curling processes, showed a good confirmation with the experiments.
