Titel
A configurable microcontroller core described in VHDL
Abstract
In this paper a software tool suitable to configure VHDL descriptions and an example application, a configurable and synthesizeable microcontroller core described in VHDL are presented. The microcontroller core is compatible to the PIC16Cxx microcontroller from Microchip. A range of peripheral components allow to use the controller core for many applications. The VHDL configuration utility guarantees an optimal adaption of the VHDL description to the specified problem, which reduces both chip area and power consumption.
