Abstract
Combining two different materials in one part can be very advantageous as it leads to tailoring material properties to the task in hand. In the investigations presented here, near net shape forming of such a composite by powder injection molding (PIM) was attempted. The problems of and developments for tuning the process parameters of a tool steel and an iron nickel steel to each other are described. Debinding and sintering of this combination was performed on the basis of dilatometric measurements. An example of a composite PIM part is discussed.
