Abstract
The importance of monitoring temporal and spatial changes of ozone concentration in the stratosphere and in the ambient air has been clearly recognised. The effort to develop a portable and simple ozone spectrometer for a mobile application is made. Instead of a photo multiplier, a solid-state silicon carbide photo-detector is used to detect the intensity of ultra violet (UV), which makes it possible to construct a compact ozone photometer. The detector and the lamp were evaluated. A compact ozone measurement system with one single (35 cm) optical cell was developed to detect the ozone concentration in air samples.
