Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung von Reibbelaegen aus im wesentlichen Faserstoffen, polymerem Binder und Fuellstoffen, wird vorgeschlagen, dass die Faserstoffe, der Binder und die Fuellstoffe homogen durchmischt werden, die erhaltene Mischung zu einem Pressling kalt verdichtet wird, der Pressling durch einen Schneid- oder Trennvorgang zu wenigstens einem Reibbelag konfektioniert wird und der wenigstens eine Reibbelag ausgehaertet wird. Das vorgeschlagene Verfahren ist aeusserst umweltschonend, zeitsparend und damit kostenguenstig ausfuehrbar und die danach hergestellten Reibbelaege zeichnen sich durch hervorragende Eigenschaften aus.

This is cut or separated to form the friction lining, which is hardened. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preferred Features: Mixing of fibers, binder and filler is effected dry. Mixture is filled into a hollow cylindrical mold, being compressed cold to a blank. Pressure reached = 10-1000 bar. Cold compression takes place at room temperature. The compressive strength of the blank = 0.5-3 N/mm2. The blank is made into a disc shaped friction layers or slices with a thickness = 0.5-2 mm. Hardening follows in an oven at 140-240 deg. C, for 45-180 minutes. Friction layer(s) may be attached to a support before or after hardening. USE - Produces a friction lining (claimed) for brakes, clutches or friction drives. ADVANTAGE - The method is environmentally friendly, rapid and economical. Little residual waste is produced. A significant point concerns residues produced by separation, before hardening. This waste can be comminuted and recycled directly. Because it has not been hardened, it can be mixed back in with the same feedstock materials. These have precisely the same composition. Practically all waste can be re-used in this way. Dry mixing eliminates environmentally questionable solvents, with no loss of quality. Mixing is simple, clean and rapid. Composition may be adjusted quickly. Flexible manufacture of differing types of lining is facilitated. Hardening and attachment to a backing may be combined, using no adhesive, or else adhesive attachment follows hardening.
