Abstract
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Beschichtung fuer Werkzeuge zur Bearbeitung von waermebehandeltem Glas, wie beispielsweise Glasschmelzen oder dergleichen, zur Verringerung der Anhaftung des Glases. Die Beschichtung besteht zumindest teilweise aus einem kohlenstoffbasierten Schichtsystem und/oder kohlenstoffhaltigen Hartstoffen.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following: (i) a hot glass (e.g. molten glass) processing tool provided with the above coating; and (ii) production of coatings on hot glass processing tools by gas phase deposition, especially CVD or PVD, of a carbon-based layer system and/or a carbon-containing hard material. USE - For hot glass processing tools, especially cutting tools, calibration mandrels or pressing tools (claimed), particularly high speed steel or hard metal gob-cutter knives, glass tube calibrating mandrels and pressing moulds for picture tube manufacture. ADVANTAGE - The coating forms an adhesion preventing, wear resistant and low friction surface layer which has a long service life even at hot glass processing temperatures due to the high thermal conductivity of the tool material, reduces or avoids the need for parting agents and/or lubricants, increases the tool service life, improves the glass product surface quality and reduces the occurrence of rejects.
