Ein Beitrag zur Frage der Optimierung von Panzerauslegungen
Abstract
Experiments have been performed to investigate the influence on ballistic protective strength of armor by splitting homogeneous armor plates into laminated and spaced armor structures. An attempt is made to understand the inconsistent results of metallic and nonmetallic targets classifying target structures of equal total masses by the ratio of front and rear plate thicknesses, and the mass ratio of intermediate nonmetallic layer plate to the total target. Then the experimental results may be represented in a manner which allows to separate parameter regions where perforation or no perforation will occur. A procedure is discucced to decide with a few number of experiments in which direction a development has to take place to receive optimal light armor structures.
