An important goal in painting technology is to improve economy and reliability of the production process and, at the same time, to reduce environmental pollution. The computer-controlled painting automats and robots presently however, not be sufficient for future requirements. The effects of the produced paint film thickness and thickness profile on quality and capacity can be studied prior to production by computer simulations which take into account the variation of the trajectory and coating parameters. The automatic control of the spray image increases production reliability in robot-assisted painting techniques.
