Titel
Application of photovoltaics for the illumination of information and advertising systems
Abstract
Information must still be visible in many cases in the absence of daylight. Thus it is useful, even necessary, to be able to read emergency exit signs, house numbers, street maps, street signs, town names, timetables of bus stops and company signs at night. Illuminated signs are used increasingly often for advertising. A typical example is the use of illuminated advertising showcases at bus and tram stop shelters. Often it is not economical to connect these installations to the public electricity grid. In these cases, a photovoltaic power supply offers advantages. ISE and industrial companies have cooperated closely to develop and construct several different illumination systems. This work was within the framework of the project "Photovoltaic Power Supply for Appliances in the Low and Medium Power Range", supported by the West German Ministry for Research and Technology (BMFT).
