What is lacking in safety - examples from robot workstations
Abstract
The application of new technology in production places new demands on industrial safety. Generally representative for new technology in the area of production, this can be particularly vividly observed and illustrated on the example of the use of industrial robots which, in the past years, have increasingly found their way into small and medium sized industries. Although working groups, discussing and formulating industrial safety standards for industrial robots, were already formed in various countries at a very early time, it is apparent that safety at the industrial robot workstation cannot be achieved solely by observing regulations, but can only be guaranteed if it is included from the outset in the overall concept as a planning criterion.
