Abstract
The invention relates to the fields of ceramics and metallurgy and refers to a process for the production of refractory materials based on a SiAlkON/C or SiAlON/SiC/C composite. The invention is based on the technical problem of citing a process which prevents an increase in porosity caused by the reaction of carbon with the oxide or nitride phases of the material. The invention solves the technical problem by means of a process for the production of refractory materials characterized by the fact that a mixture comprising silicon, aluminium, aluminium oxide and carbon is heated in three stages to temperatures of maximum 2200 degrees C in an atmosphere mainly consisting of nitrogen to produce a refractory material comprising SiAlON and carbon, and that the mixture can contain silicon carbide to produce a refractory material containing SiAlON/SiC and carbon, and the mixture is heated in two stages to a maximum 2200 degrees C in an atmosphere mainly comprising nitrogen
