Abstract
NOVELTY - the method involves subjecting the body (1) to illumination (6) for an illumination period, measuring the emitted thermal radiation (10) against time and determining the material characteristics from the emission curve. The illumination period is set smaller than the quotient of the square of an estimated film thickness and an estimated diffusivity between the boundary surfaces. The effusivity of the test body is determined from at least one measurement value in the heating phase or in a section of the cooling phase immediately following the heating phase with a high cooling rate corresponding to the heating rate in the heating phase DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for an arrangement for photothermal inspection of a test body USE - for photothermal inspection of a test body ADVANTAGE - enables relatively accurate determination of the material properties of a test body without knowing the exact film thickness with lower equipment costs than with conventional techniques.
