Abstract
Today polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in many environmental sample such as surface water and urban particulate are frequently analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) (1). On the contrary. PAH in diesel particulate extracts are (at least in the Federal Republic of Germany) preferentially analyzed tracts (2,3). However, Lee and Schuetzle (4) stated that this technique is of limited value for the analysis of diesel particulate because of the large number of interfering alkyl PAH which are of minor abundance in other environmental samples. Here the analysis of PAH in diesel particulate extracts by HPLC with UV detection (photodiode array detector) and fluorescence detection with variable wavelengths is reported.
