Titel
Simulation-based Supply Chain Design
Abstract
Many manufacturing enterprises have reorganised their internal processes and are now ordering a growing number of parts from outside suppliers. Consequently, the alignment of business processes within the supply chain becomes of greater importance. As a result, Fraunhofer IPA has developed a prototype to optimise the cooperative planning of network-wide supply chains. This prototype consists of a modular logistics library, which enables the quick formation of new supply chain structures, and a simulation tool which helps to create and evaluate alternative structures. Thus, interdependencies in the value-adding process can be made transparent and a continuous information flow achieved. Additionally, the supply chain costs are reduced and the ability to react to customer's needs is increased.
