Titel
Adaptive response of S.cerevisiae to chronic treatment with alkylating and nonalkylating mutagens
Abstract
The aim of our work was to determine whether yeast cells can be adapted for mutagenesis and recombinogenesis by real chronic treatment, i.e. repeated treatment of growing cells for 6 to 9 months with mutagens. For this purpose a long term assay with yeast strain MP1, suitable for simultaneous detection of mutuation, nonreciprocal and reciprocal recombination has been developed. Principle of the method is the permanent and exactly calibrated supply of fresh media and removal of exhausted media allowing yeast cells to grow permanently for months. (ITA)
