Titel
Process monitoring in laser materials processing. The initial steps have been taken to answer industry's need for automated process control
Abstract
Different diagnostic devices have been developed to control the process in laser beam applications. Two devices control the laser beam in real time, the other devices detect the emitted radiation coming from the interaction zone and passing the focusing head in real time. This leads to the fact that the process is independent of the movement of the workpiece or of using a "flying optic head" to move the beam. Examples for controlled hardening, drilling, and cutting, as well as for controlling the welding process are given. The work was financially supported by the BMFT (Federal Ministry for Research and Technology) in Bonn.
